ABSTRACT GUIDELINE INSTRUCTIONS

Deadline for Abstract Submission is January 14,, 2008

This year, the Technical-Scientific Committee has revised and updated the tracks for the Annual Meeting, hoping that this new approach will develop a better Technical-Scientific Program that will be more current with the priorities, tendencies and actual needs. The new tracks are listed in the following number.

All Abstracts should be categorized by their authors into one of the following topic areas:

Disease Prevention and Control |
Examples:Research; HIV; AIDS; STD's; Tuberculosis; Diabetes; Epidemiological Surveillance; Water Quality; Air Quality; Unintentional injuries; Maternal and newborn health; etc |

Organized Social Response |
Examples: Strengthening of Human Capital Formation in different Disciplines for Health; Information Systems; Research Agendas on Border Health Priorities; Evaluation Methodologies; Laboratory Networks; Workers' Health and Safety; Disaster Prevention and Preparedness; Community Programs; Environmental Health Indicators; etc. |

Social Determinants for Health |
Examples: Poverty; Education; Access to Health Services; Equity; Promotora Outreach; Human Rights; Migration; Health Promotion; Social Work; Mental Health; Violence; Health Risk Factors; Surveillance Systems for Public and Environmental Health Risks; Natural Resources; etc. |

Presentations may focus on either scientific/research study information, or on program/service-provision services. |

We make a special invitation to Community-based Organizations to submit their work experiences through the user's perspective.

Track Coordinator will review the abstract to determine if the abstract submitted is appropriate for that track or if it should be classified under another track that best describes the content.

Abstracts will be assigned to the Abstract Review Committee for review and evaluation.

Abstract will be reviewed against the following criteria:

Border relevance |
| ii) |
Significance to the central theme of the Annual Meeting: “Intersectorial Approach for a Healthy Life” |
| iii) |
Currency of the content |
| iv) |
Is the content innovative? |
| v) |
Level of interest for the participants? |
| vi) |
Technical and scientific or descriptive and analytical overall quality score of this abstract |
Abstracts with the highest score will carry out the selection process. |

Once all abstracts have been reviewed, the Annual Meeting Coordinator will send letters of acceptance or rejection to the main authors by February 15, 2008.

Abstract Review Committee members should not contact authors directly.

2. All information on the Abstract Submission Form must be completed.
3. Abstracts should not be longer than 350 words.
4. Presenters pay only a pre-registration fee, regardless of the registration time.
