Border TB Photovoice Project: Voices and Images

Voices and Images Gallery

The Border TB Photovoice participants identified strengths and challenges in their communities by photographing people, places and things that were significant to them. They participated in several discussion sessions and then selected the images and stories that as a group, wanted to present to policy and decision makers from both sides of the border.

Their images and stories are being used with the purpose of raising discussion and illustrating the importance of topics such as empathy, humanity, access to health care, co-responsibility, fight against stigma and discrimination, and the importance of emotional and family support; all of these, necessary resources to deal with TB/HIV along with binational collaboration.

On March 14, 2007, the Project participants' commemorated the World TB Day “TB Anywhere is TB Everywhere“ in El Paso and presented their images and stories to a network of policy and decision makers from Ciudad Juarez an El Paso. Also, the participants presented a Call to Action.

Community leaders, policy and decision makers participated in the forum and pledge their commitment to the project goals. To view these commitments, click here.
