The strategy is to establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, private non-profit agencies, and Federal, State, Local, and Tribal governments to support the efforts of the Alliance of Border Coalitions and reduce substance abuse among youth along the US Mexico Border.
ACTIONS
Recruit all Coalitions, on either side of the Border, including Drug Free Communities Coalitions. Border Coalitions include all Coalitions that operate within 60 miles of the Mexico US Border and have as their goal to decrease substance abuse in the region.
Collect documentation for communities along the U.S.-Mexico Border to plan and implement a media campaign (social marketing) using a science based social norms approach.
Develop and implement campaign with messages that meet border wide needs and addresses local idiosyncrasies.
Improve knowledge and skills of coalitions, their members, staff and stakeholders to make use media strategies and training to make environmental changes (change social norms and influence policy).
Work with qualified capacity building assistance providers (such as CADCA) in order to use training to further develop the Alliance as a network.
