MEMBERSHIP

The Binational Alliance of Border Coalitions has an open membership to any community coalition and public or private organization engaged in prevention, intervention, or treatment of substance abuse. Coalition leaders and public officials from the six Mexican border states and the four US border states (i.e. community coalitions) are encouraged to actively participate. Any coalition or organization interested in being a member of the Binational Alliance will need to provide a formal letter expressing their interest and identifying their coalition and/or organization to the Binational Alliance Coordinator.

Contact Dora Basurto , Project Coordinator basurtod@usmbha.org for more membership information..

BENEFITS

By participating in the alliance you will have the opportunity to:

Communicate with other groups to identify and learn about different efforts in prevention, as well as to express your regional and local needs, thru different means of communication (i.e. electronically, telephone or in person). In addition we can expand our knowledge of other similar and complementary services when receiving this e-bulletin .

Training. By joining this coalition you become part of a network of hundreds of organizations and individuals along the border, which can provide science-based training and capacity building to strengthen the organization to which you belong.

Develop public policies. Based on your experience you will have the opportunity to contribute well developed and concrete proposals to be presented to state and federal legislative bodies (policy makers). Being part of a large binational coalition will add weight and credibility to efforts against addictions.

Share information. The border region is extensive; therefore it is very important that the Binational Alliance of Border Coalition know about your work, programs and services. When adding your information in the registration form we will find out such things as in which areas of prevention you work, what are your specific training needs, common obstacles, target population, environmental strategies, and successful programs that can be replicated and multiplied throughout the border.
