ANTICIPATED USE OF RESULTS

Meth Model Meth Powder Form Border Crossing

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To identify and recruit a sample of 100 males and females who have ever-used MA in any form in IDU networks.
  2. To describe the characteristics of the study sample of MA users.
  3. To identify and explain attitudes toward MA by drug users.
  4. To explore the relationship of MA use to other drug use, in particular injection drug use .

A manual describing the steps for the design and implementation of the research will be produced to support replication.

  • Manual will provide guidelines for adaptation of the instruments to the context of communities along the US-Mexico Border.
  • Content and format will be based on the experience of the outreach/interviewers and key public health informants.
  • The manual will be disseminated to other researchers and practitioners, as well as forming the basis of a peer reviewed publication submission.

Research Findings

  • Findings will be prepared as papers to be presented at scientific public health, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS meetings;
  • Because of the emergent nature of the topic, the PI and collaborators will develop policy papers to be submitted to electronic journals and websites.
