Healthy Women is a project of the US-Mexico Border Health Association (USMBHA), a capacity building assistance provider funded BY CDC under program announcement 04019 – Capacity Building Assistance to Improve the Delivery and Effectiveness of HIV Prevention Services for Racial/Ethnic Minority Populations.

USMBHA receives additional support from the CDC Office of Health Disparities to implement and evaluate the Healthy Women Project.

Healthy Women is designed to:

  • Increase awareness and knowledge among Latina women about HIV/AIDS
  • Improve access to and utilization of HIV prevention services by Latinas at risk.
  • Enhance Promotora strategies by incorporating respondent/participant driven methods.

The purpose of Healthy Woman is to build the capacity of Promotoras to:

  • Encourage women at risk to access and utilize HIV/AIDS services, and
  • Promote the use of these services within groups or social networks
